Strangulation

A Deadly Form of Domestic Violence

Strangulation is an especially dangerous form of domestic violence that significantly increases the risk of future violence and death. If you’ve experienced strangulation, it’s crucial to seek medical care, report the abuse, and reach out for support.

Why Strangulation is So Dangerous: Strangulation involves cutting off a victim’s air supply by applying pressure to the neck with hands, arms, or objects like belts. It’s a severe act of control, often without visible injuries, but the internal damage can be life-threatening. Victims may dismiss its seriousness, but strangulation can lead to unconsciousness in seconds and death within minutes.
